About Joyful Christian Preschool

OUR MISSION

The purpose of Joyful Christian Preschool is for each child to know the gracious love of Jesus and be academically and socially prepared for kindergarten.

We see children as precious individuals created by God. We commit ourselves to providing a quality, well-rounded education and to help each child develop a love for learning.

We help children see themselves as important and loved, openly sharing Jesus Christ’s love, and the basic Holy Scriptures. We strive to integrate Christian faith and daily life.

OUR HISTORY

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) operates the largest Protestant school system in the United States with over 2,000 Christian schools and preschools.

Joyful Christian Preschool has been owned and operated by Resurrection Lutheran Church since 1984 in response to the need for quality, Christ-centered education for preschoolers. For many years prior to that the preschool was located in the church while being owned and operated by one of our church members.

ENROLLMENT

Students are enrolled without regard to religion, race, color, sex, and national or ethnic origin. Enrollment forms are available in the Church/School office (518-622.3286). Completed enrollment form must be submitted along with registration fee and tuition, along with a copy of the child’s current immunization record. Parents may visit the preschool at any time to observe classes. Our teachers are available by appointment for conferences as requested, or by phone.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Joyful Christian Preschool is a non-denominational Christian program. Class sizes are limited appropriately for each age, and staffed accordingly. Teachers and staff are carefully screened and well-qualified, bringing enthusiasm and appropriate experience to the preschool. Classrooms are well-stocked with a variety of quality educational materials, equipment, computers, books and appropriate toys. Field trips are arranged to places of interest in the area, and community representatives visit the preschool to show and tell of their service.

Resurrection Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which is known for its emphasis on God’s Word, Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and Christian Education.

TUITION INFORMATION

The Preschool Board is committed to making quality preschool affordable. As a mission of Resurrection Lutheran Church, the congregation provides support for the preschool, enabling our tuition costs to remain among the lowest anywhere. Gifts of time, talent, finances, and materials from parents and friends are an important means of support as well. To meet much of the operational expense, tuition is assessed.

Tuition may be tax deductible – not as a charitable contribution, but for those who deduct for child care. Consult a tax advisor or accountant to see if you qualify.

Tuition:

2 days per week: $90 per month

3 days per week: $115 per month

The last month’s tuition (June) is due at the time of enrollment or by August 1, if enrolled early. (Refundable if child withdraws prior to beginning of school.)

ENROLLMENT FEE

There is a $15 non-refundable Enrollment Fee, paid once per school year. ($10 off if enrolled on or before the Open House held in late winter).

CLASS SCHEDULES

All classes follow the regular school calendar of the Cairo-Durham School District from September through June concerning vacations, holidays and weather-related full-day school closings.

Morning Classes
3-Year-Olds: Thursday & Friday – 9:00 am until 12 noon.
4-Year-Olds: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday – 9:00 am until 12 noon.

WEATHER RELATED CONCERNS

Concerning weather-relted school cancellations & delays, we follow Cairo-Durham (C-D) School District’s lead, & their decisions are announced over WCKL radio & WRGB (local channel 6) TV. However, please note the following differences.

When C-D is closed, Joyful Christian Preschool (JCP) is closed.
-If C-D is running only one hour late, JCP morning classes begin on time, at 9:00 am.
-If C-D is running two hours late, our morning classes will begin one hour late, at 10:00 am; & afternoon classes will take place as usual.
-If C-D closes early due to weather conditions, JCP afternoon classes will be cancelled.

In all cases, parents are free to bring their children late or pick them up early any day the weather is questionable.

If necessary, make-up snow days will be scheduled during the week of Spring/Easter vacation.

OTHER SCHEDULE CONCERNS

Although we follow the C-D schedule concerning vacations, holidays, weather-related closing, & unforeseeable emergency situations, JCP will hold classes as usual on days C-D is closed for in-house conferences.

Joyful Christian Preschool is conveniently located at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cairo near the intersection of Routes 32 & 23B (behind CVS).
